Job Description
The Ministry of Social Services, Income Assistance Programs, is seeking citizencentered and empathetic individuals to join the Service Delivery Branch as Income Assistance Workers. This role supports clients facing barriers such as disability, mental illness, unemployment and addictions. The ministry offers meaningful work helping individuals and families strengthen their wellbeing, build independence and connect to services across their communities.

This role supports clients facing barriers such as disability, mental illness, unemployment and addictions. The ministry offers meaningful work helping individuals and families strengthen their wellbeing, build independence and connect to services across their communities.
They are looking for candidates who thrive in fastpaced, crisisdriven environments with shifting priorities. The ideal individual communicates with clarity, compassion and professionalism, remains calm under pressure and builds strong relationships with clients and community partners. A commitment to cultural understanding, particularly relating to First Nations and Metis communities, and strong knowledge of social issues such as poverty, systemic barriers and diversity are essential. Effective motivational interviewing skills and the ability to support clients through emotionally complex situations are also key.
Knowledge and experience may be gained through humanservice related education or work experience. Relevant backgrounds include Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Sociology, Human Justice, Psychology or similar fields. Candidates must be able to travel as required and hold a valid drivers licence. Strong organizational abilities, comfort with computer programs and databases, and the ability to interpret and apply policy and legislation are necessary for success.
